Cookie Monster Doesn't Eat Vegetables

I remember being little and watching Sesame Street. Cookie Monster was singing about "healthy food," and he had tons of vegetable buddies next to him, singing along. All I saw on that screen was a SEVERE lack of cookies, and a bunch of things I didn't like to eat. For the last 30 years, I have DESPISED vegetables. All of them. In fact, when I first started coaching with Molly, she was trying to get me to eat vegetables. I tried to negotiate that I would eat twice as much fruit, as long as I didn't have to eat any vegetables. Fast foward to now, and you'll see me eating vegetables with every meal, and sometimes even for a snack. How did I do it? Let me tell you. 1. Molly initially encouraged me to just eat 2 servings of vegetables a day, and it didn't matter when. It also didn't matter what. I knew that from childhood, the only vegetable I liked was green beans. So, I ate two servings of green beans a day. Every. Single. Day. 2. Molly encouraged ...
Be a Weekend Warrior

Did you know that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are 43% of your week? I never realized this, and I used to phone it in on the weekends. Seriously. Friday night to Sunday night, I was in full-on "No Fs given" mode. Unfortunately, this also meant I wasn't getting any results. In fact, I gained some weight for a while, a little each week. What changed? I became a badass on the weekends. 1. I worked out every day on the weekends, even if it's just a mile walk. Movement has become key for me, and I never miss a day- Friday though Sunday. 2. I choose my treats carefully, not eating every sweet or salty treat in sight. I'm not talking about denying yourself your aunts special sticky buns (shout out to my Aunt Michele). I'm talking about drinks that aren't even tasty, the dry donuts leftover from this morning, and the chips your kid rejected. 3. I drink my water, no matter what. My goal is a gallon, and I drink it. I pack my favorite cup every time I trave...
I need a coach. You might, too.

My coach, Molly, has been with me for almost three years now, and I plan to keep her around for as long as she'll be my coach. Why? I need a coach. When it comes to many things- weightloss, wellness, business- most of the very successful people I know have a coach. Why does this help so much? Having a coach is an auotomatic source of accountability, and those check-ins can be powerful. You don't want to tell someone else that you skipped workouts all week or that you didn't prioritize your wellness for some BS reason. Having a coach gives you someone to bounce ideas off of. I can't tell you how many times Molly has listened as I lamented my disdain for vegetables or my frustration with the scale. Having a coach also allows you to process. When you process outloud and talk to someone else, sometimes you open doors that you didn't realize even existed. It helps you self-analyze and figure out the details of your life. Here's specifically what Molly and I have ...
So The Danger Must Be Growing

Something crazy is coming. My coaching certification wraps up pretty soon, and I just had a coaching call with my coach. She and I both agree that I'm ready to take beta clients. What does that mean? I'll offer coaching at a super reduced price for a few people who are willing to work out the kinks with me. They'll get the same great, super involved coaching that I'd offer anyone, but it's cheap. The bonus for me is that they're hopefully going to give me feedback and together we'll make this process better for my future clients. BUT THIS IS SCARY AND CRAZY TO ME!!! But honestly, I think it’s going to be ok. I’ve had a great coach. If you’re looking to get mentored for business, Christy Campbell is your girl. I worked super hard at my certification, and seriously put in the time with my class partner client. I think I’m going to crush this, and be an awesome source of accountability for others. I'll be posting on Facebook and Instagram on Monday looking...
Transition is Hard

Transition. Transition is really hard. Like monumental. Where I'm going from here is constantly on my mind. What I'm doing, who I'm doing it with, what the plan is. But what if I don't know? What if I'm starting a new adventure and the future is unknown, and I can't entirely plan for it? That's what I'm doing now. I have 27 days until my last day in my current position. After that, I move out of my current role and go part time, back to the role I started as. For those of you who don't know, I'm an educator for a hospital-based transport team. And I'm quitting. I'm tired and burned out, and someone with a lot more gusto and enthusiasm than me can take on new adventures for the team. My time is done. I'm going to be working 2 days a week as a regular old paramedic on the ambulance and helicopter. What else am I doing with my time? I'm becoming a health and wellness coach. What does that mean? Helping people build better ...
